MNS chief Raj Thackeray recently asked road users to stop paying toll tax unless the govt. tells where the money being paid is heading to. Some MNS workers also vandalized some of the toll booths outside Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Thackeray said that there is no transparency in the process of toll tax collection. “I am not against toll collection. But a citizen who pays the toll should know where that money is going and for what purpose it is used,” he said.
Thackeray further said that MNS workers have been posted at all toll booths in Maharashtra and “shall stop forceful collection of toll”.
“Public is being exploited by toll charges. Government policies with regard to toll collection are not being implemented. We are going to write to chief minister Prithviraj Chavan (about this),” he added.
Thackeray had launched a state-wide agitation against the toll collection policy last month and his party demands that the state should be made toll free.

hence we are paying insurance and road tax what is this toll tax? why are you killing in name of toll tax….
yeah thackeray ji is right we want to where our hard earn money goes I am supporting thackeray ji in this in bangalore chennai highway it has become big hurdles to user their charging exorbitant money where there are really bad road to use you can find potholes in every ten kilometers I support thackeray ji in this movement.
you appreciate ihs effort of vandalizing toll booths? the cause may be correct.. but the approach is not..
Appreciate Mr. Raj’s effort, a big round of applause for him. It is so true that we citizens have no clue as to where is the cash collected in the form of toll going. Look at the Mumbai-Pune expressway, it used to be a brilliant route to drive on but today, it is marred by undulations and quite a few potholes in the Khandala Ghat stretch. Not much can be expected from our State Govt. coz Chief Minister and Home Minister have bigger issues to indulge in, like shutting down nightclubs and killing the city’s night life.
