Last week, we brought you the news of how a strip of tyre killers was setup in Pune, Maharashtra to curb wrong side driving. While the tyre killers installed at Amanora Park in Hadapsar, Pune, initially received a positive response, the local police has now ordered removal of the tyre killers due to various reasons.
The Pune Traffic Police has asked the authorities to remove the spike strips with immediate effect. According to a letter sent by the police officials, the spikes have been put up on a public road without the permission of any government body. Further, it has been stated that these spikes might result in accidents and can also cause harm to people.
JD Kalaskar, traffic police inspector, told Pune Mirror that the spikes are very sharp and could turn fatal if someone falls there. With the school round, the risk is severe. He further went on to add that permission was not taken for any such installation and even though it was put up inside the township, the road is being used by the masses and hence their safety has to be ensured.
