We have reported in considerable detail about the new generation 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The second generation of Range Rover Sport was unveiled with much fanfare at the last New York Auto Show and the new Range Rover Sport is headed to India. Now, it has emerged that the 2014 Range Rover Sport, which is yet to go on sale, has already garnered about 15,000 bookings from Europe alone!
The new Range Rover Sport looks leagues ahead of the last gen car. Unlike the earlier model, which was based on the Land Rover LR3/LR4 and had a steel ladder frame, the 2014 Land Rover Range Sport is based on an all-aluminum body construction that has been borrowed from the Range Rover flagship.
Two of the total five engine variants that have been short-listed for Indian debut are– 3 litre V6 diesel with 292PS-600 Nm and 5-litre V8 Supercharged petrol with 510PS-625Nm. Both the engines are mated to a new 8-speed ZF transmission and that sends power to all four wheels.
The 2014 Range Rover Sport is longer, lower, and wider than the 2013 model and offers more spacious interiors which get an optional plus-two third-row seat for children.
The interior styling is similar to that on the new Range Rover. The car will come with a 12.3-inch high-res display that replaces analogue gauges. The new car comes kitted out with lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, automatic high-beam assist, Flank Guard, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision sensing, cross-car traffic detection, parallel-parking assists, and more.
The new Range Rover Sport loses 800 pounds and gains an eight-speed automatic transmission, independent suspension, ventilated four-wheel disc brakes and electric-assisted rack-and-pinion steering.
Going by the rave reviews that the new car is getting, we aren’t too surprised to see the response that it has got!
