Ola Electric is planning to release the Move OS 3.0 update this Diwali for all of its S1 & S1 Pro customers. With this update, expect to have many additional features over the current Move OS 2.0 which is powering all the existing Ola scooters. The Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer is all set to update the scooters via an Over The Air (OTA) update with no customers having to visit any service centre at all.

The OTA installation process is likely to be carried out in a phased manner and the scooters run the 3.0 OS will sport features such as proximity unlock, calling function, hill-hold, regenerative braking version 2, something called key sharing and hyper charging. More interesting features like voice control and ‘moods’. While these features may be fun and tempting for many, don’t expect them to make their way into the new Ola scooter that is about to be priced even more aggressively and undercut the S1 Pro. As of now. the Ola S1 and the S1 Pro are available for Rs. 99,999 and Rs. 1,39,999 with a discount of Rs 10,000 on the Pro model. Let’s take a look at some of the key features which will be added:

The addition of Hyper Charging would mean that the e-scooter can accept charging at a higher voltage cutting charging times. Key sharing will be an option of having temporary access to the scooter via their phone while Proximity unlock is expected to turn out similar to that of a car wherein a vehicle will unlock once it detects that the key or in this case a phone, is nearby. Hill hold is a rider aid where the e-scooter will avoid roll-back & hold itself in its place upon detecting a slope or an incline. Features that seem high tech is the regenerative braking version 2 which could have various regen modes. What’s better is that now you can talk to your S1 Pro with the help of a Bluetooth-paired device thanks to its voice assistant to do things like navigation, calling and playing your favourite music.

Another interesting feature which was also teased by the CEO in a tweet is moods. The electric scooter will have multiple selections of themes for its user interface & instrument cluster with one that was teased being an ICE mood in which the screen displayed old analogue dials and the onboard speakers produced the thumping exhaust note as Bhavish Aggarwal himself pulled the throttle making the artificial revs climb. All things considered, we have to now wait and see how Ola manages to pull off the update this time as we have seen that the current Move OS 2.0’s many promises features were greatly delayed. What left buyers even more disappointed were the various incidents regarding the 2-wheelers’ safety
