The entire world took notice when Nissan resurrected the Datsun brand and unveiled an all new Datsun car in India recently. Now, it has emerged that the carmaker intends to unveil its second new model on September 17. The second car in the Datsun’s line up will be revealed in Jakarta, Indonesia, two days before the commencement of the 2013 Indonesian International Motor Show.

The soon-to-be-unveiled Datsun will become the first of the two cars that the manufacturer plans to launch in Indonesia in near future. Datsun says that the upcoming car has been “developed locally” and that the target audience would be the “new generation of aspirational customers”.

Datsun also claims that very much like the Go, the upcoming model would be “modern, attractive, accessible and reliable”. Also, it has been announced that the car would be priced below 100 million Indonesian Rupiah (approx INR 5.93 lakhs).

It is being said that the second car to come from the boffins at Datsun could be an MPV based on the recently unveiled Go hatchback. It may be noted that Indonesia has always been lucrative market for MPV makers and therefore, we  won’t be too surprised to see the carmaker deciding to take the wraps off an MPV in Indonesia.

The Datsun Go MPV could be a genuine seven seater and would probably be a cheaper alternative to the high selling Maruti Ertiga. We believe that the Go MPV would borrow engine options from the India spec Micra and this means that the car would get the same 1.2-liter 3-cylinder motor that does duty on the recently refreshed hatchback. The MPV would also get the 1.5-liter four-cylinder K9K diesel engine that has won plenty of rave reviews for its reliability and efficiency.

Not much is known about the Go based MPV but safely expect us to update you with more details as soon as we manage to dig out some info regarding the upcoming body variant.
