Nexa Premium Cars Now With CNG

Maruti Suzuki might not be in the race for dominance in the EV segment yet but, they sure are dominating the Petrol & CNG segments. This is not just in the number of sales but also in the number of products that are on offer. So far the s-CNG was exclusive to the Arena range of Maruti-Suzuki cars. MSIL has decided to change that and has launched s-CNG variants with two of their Nexa premium offerings.

Official Statement

Announcing the introduction of S-CNG at NEXA, Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said “Maruti Suzuki is committed to democratizing green mobility solutions in India, and we believe offering a large bouquet of technologies to suit varied customer needs is the only approach to achieve mass adoption of environment-friendly vehicles. CNG is one such technology known for
emitting considerably lower CO2 emissions compared to conventional fuels; with its debut in NEXA l along with Smart Hybrid and Intelligent Electric Hybrid offerings, NEXA will provide an array of eco-friendly mobility solution options for our evolved eco-conscious customers. Through market studies, we have learned that the premium segment customer is actively looking for eco-friendly options without compromising on performance, technology, safety, and driving experience. Baleno S-CNG and XL6 S-CNG have been developed keeping these uncompromising
NEXA customers in mind. Baleno S-CNG will be the country’s one of the most powerful premium CNG hatchbacks, while XL6 S-CNG will be a premium CNG MPV.”

He further added, “Maruti Suzuki’s success in democratizing the CNG technology has resulted in sales of more than 1 million S-CNG vehicles which has saved CO2 emissions of approximately 1 million tonnes. Such figures embolden our confidence of having large scale positive impact on the environment through offering a range of green technologies for customers to choose from.”

Baleno S-CNG

The Baleno S-CNG is now the only premium hatchback that comes with 6-airbags and has a CNG option. While there is no change in the 1.2 L petrol engine producing 89.73 PS and 113 Nm Torque, in the CNG mode the car makes 77.49 PS and 98.5 Nm Torque. The claimed fuel consumption in CNG mode is 30 km/kg. The Baleno S-CNG will get all the bells and whistles like its petrol counterpart. These include LED projector headlamps, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Suzuki Connect, etc. The MID will also have a specific display for CNG data. The S-CNG Baleno will be available in two variants – Delta (MT) priced at ₹8.28L and Zeta (MT) priced at ₹9.21L.

XL6 S-CNG

If you were choosing the Ertiga just because it came with CNG as an option but really wanted to get the XL6 for the premium features, you need not worry. MSIL has introduced an S-CNG version of the XL6 too. Boasting a fuel efficiency of 26.32 km/kg, the XL6 S-CNG makes 87.83 PS and 121 Nm torque in the CNG mode. The petrol motor is carried over from the petrol-only XL6 and produces 100.61 PS and 136 Nm in petrol mode. The XL6 too will come equipped with all the extras that make it more premium. The XL6 S-CNG will be sold in the Zeta (MT) trim only and is priced at ₹12.24L.
