The automobile division of the Swedish multinational manufacturing company, Volvo, announced the introduction of the all-new S60 and XC60 R-Design. The cars are designed with true sports-car feel and feature a specially developed chassis to ensure that the driving experience matches the car’s appearance. These cars have been specially developed for buyers who want to put their very own stamp on their car. R-Design will attract a younger target group. In the R-Design chassis Volvo Cars has sharpened the steering, the agility and the solid overall impression still further compared with the dynamic chassis in the all-new S60 and XC60.
R-Design models can be combined with all the engines available for the standard versions. Both variants are equipped with in-line 4 cylinder Turbodiesel 2 litre engine which produces maximum horsepower of 181 along with the torque of 400 Nm.
The Volvo S60 & XC60 R-Design are the top-spec variants in the respective model range and are also equipped with the new D4 diesel engine. There’s lots of standard equipment like the new Navigation system, Gear shift paddles, Premium sound system, Heated front seats, Sunroof, Personal car communicator, Rear parking camera, Remote control & Air quality system.
The R-Design cars now feature a unique face with a redesigned, dynamic, expressive nose. The R-Design features a Tech Matte Black grille with a new R-Design emblem and high gloss black stripes. The DRL lights in the outer corners reinforce the low, road-hugging impression. The front wheel arches are small design gems that enhance the car’s sporty aura. The rounded end of the front bumper ‘wraps’ around the dynamic Ixion wheel, which is now available in a redesigned 18-inch version for both S60 and XC60.
On the inside, a new sport seat come as standard in the R-Design cars. With great hugging side support all the way from the thighs to the shoulders, the new sport seat makes a perfect addition to the in-command feel of a true driver’s car while the seat retains the traditional comfort that has been a Volvo hallmark for decades. The three-spoke design, leather-covered R-Design steering wheel adds a sporty and distinctive touch to the car’s looks. The Adaptive Digital Display features the option to switch between three layouts with different configuration and functionality – Elegance, Eco and Performance. In the R-Design versions, the Elegance theme boasts a radiant blue colour.
Speaking about the new S60 and XC60, Magnus Jonsson, Senior Vice President Product Development at Volvo Cars said, “The all-new S60 and XC60 are our sportiest models ever. With R-Design they are even sharper. They’re the natural choice for true connoisseurs.”
