Swedish car maker Volvo has the lowest number of sales in its segment. The cars produced by the company are known to be highly reliable and go on to touch hundred thousand’s of miles without breaking a sweat. Also, Volvo’s are known to be safest cars of all. The company has suffered in India due to the lack of a wider sales and service network.
According to a recent report, it has surfaced that the company will be launching the Volvo S60 R-Design in the Indian market soon. The S60 R-Design is powered by Volvo’s new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The new S60 R-Design, when launched, can be the pride of your garage for INR 39.36 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). The new 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The new 2.0 liter 4 pot mill churns out a respectable 183.5 PS of power and 400 Nm of peak torque. This engine makes the car more quick and efficient than the one which employed the 2.4-liter 5 cylinder motor which produces 215 PS. According to Volvo, the new engine helps the car to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 25kmpl. This is the result of of the use of what Volvo calls ‘i-Art’ technology to cut fuel consumption. Each fuel injector is monitored and the pressure is continuously adapted per combustion cycle instead of using a single pressure sensor. The new 8-speed automatic gearbox changes gears quickly than the six-speed unit.
Speaking of the cosmetic changes on the S60 R-Design, the car gets a more aggressive front bumper with a honeycomb lower grille and a R-Design badge on the grille. The car comes with new five spoke alloys which are shod with 18 inch wheels. At the rear, the S60 R-Design gets a more pronounced diffuser and twin circular chromed exhausts which are different from the standard S60.
On the inside, the R-Design gets sportier heated front bucket seats, a satellite navigation system, 10GB of memory and a new 12 speaker music system.
