Ford is all set to start selling special products such as shirts, jackets, pinball machines and watches to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Ford Mustang. These products will have a new logo which was created during an internal design competition at Ford. The competition was led by Ford’s Chief Creative Officer J. Mays. The new celebratory logo was designed by Michael Thompson.
Ford plans to launch year long celebrations which will start in New York. The first phase of these celebrations will be a part of the New York International Auto Show.
While the American car maker will hold year long celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, it will also be busy with the development of the next generation Mustang that it plans to launch in 2014. Ford hopes that the new car would appeal to both American and European customers.
“That is a really interesting challenge,” said Ford of Europe design chief Martin Smith. “What will emerge from that whole process is one of the best sports cars in the world and one that is still affordable. It won’t cost $1 million.”
