The new 2014 Z1000, which was unveiled earlier this year, looks tastier and more ferocious than its predecessor and quite obviously, boasts of better performance figures too.

Engine

The new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is powered by the same 1043cc DOHC liquid-cooled 16-valve inline 4 engine that powered the previous iteration. However, for the 2014 model year, it belts out a higher max power of 142ps@10,000 rpm and produces a peak torque of 111 nm @ 7300 rpm. While the peak torque output remains same as earlier, it is now produced at 500 revs lesser. Other revisions include a remapped ECU and a new cold air intake (CAI) system that routes fresh air to the airbox via extra ducts at the front of the bike with a new non-woven air filter element providing better flow at high-RPM.

Frame

The new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is built around a new advanced aluminum frame that seems to be similar to that of the Ninja ZX10R. The highlight here is that the main frame and the swingarm pivot pieces are cast together as a single unit and hence, the need of welds is entirely eliminated.

Suspenstion

The 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 comes equipped with a set of new fully adjustable 41mm inverted SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) front forks and a new preload- and rebound-adjustable back-link rear monoshock. The monoshock is almost horizontally mounted and this enables optimal mass centralization and heat resistance.

Braking

Braking for the new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 comes from a 310mm twin petal front discs and a 250mm single petal rear disc. ABS comes fitted as standard.

We, at Motoroids, are salivating at the prospect of having the new Z1000 coming to us! Are you?
