New 125cc and 150cc variants of the Vespa SXL and VXL launched in India – Official Release and Image Gallery

Vespa, a timeless icon of Italian lifestyle, expanded its product offering in India and premiered its most powerful 150cc range of scooters at an event in Mumbai. Vespa’s global brand ambassador Alessandro Del Piero, unveiled the brand’s new 150 cc range and launched the “Vespa for Children/ Del Piero version” programme for a charity auction, under the umbrella Piaggio Group charity “Vespa for Children”. During the evening, a Vespa signed by the soccer star was auctioned.

The new Vespa SXL and Vespa VXL rides on a 150cc and 125cc, 3 valve engines both delivering 11.6PS and 11.5Nm and 10.06PS and 10.6Nm respectively. The new range also sports a new look and is loaded with features such as digital instrument console, 11 inch five-spoke front alloy wheel, broader tubeless tyres, front disc brake and single piece monocoque steel body to name a few.

The Vespa SXL range is available in five attractive colours (orange, matt black, white, matt red and azure blue), whereas the Vespa VXL range is available in six colours options (yellow, white, red, matt black, green and maze grey). The Vespa 150 range has the SXL 150 cc priced at Rs 88, 696 and the VXL 150 cc is priced at Rs 84, 641. The new 125cc range has the SXL priced at Rs 81,967 and VXL 125 is priced at Rs 77,308 (All prices are ex showroom Pune).

Both motorcycles now get a semi-digital instrument cluster along with a analogue speedometer. Besides the instrument cluster, both scooters share the same switchgear too.

Both the motorcycles are equipped with a single sided front suspension, new 11-inch five-spoke alloy wheel and broader tubeless tyres. However, while the VXL gets a silver painted alloy wheel, the SXL comes with an all black alloy wheel which, to me, looked very appealing.

While the VXL gets a round headlight, the SXL is equipped with a square unit.

The VXL gets a quick access hook for handbags under the seat, the same is located behind the apron of the SLX. The unit in the VXL slides insides and merges into the lower part of the seat for a clean, simple and minimal look.
