Mini has unveiled the new 2015 Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) Hardtop at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show. Powered by one of the most powerful engine ever fitted in a serial production model of the British premium brand, the 2015 JCW Mini is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder spark ignition engine that breathes through TwinPower Turbo Technology and pumps out 231 hp of power. While the power output is 10 per cent more as compared to it’s predecessor, maximum torque has increased by 23 per cent to 320Nm. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard which does 0 – 100 in 6.3 seconds, while one can opt for a 6-speed Steptronic sports box which shaves further 0.2 seconds off the manual’s 0- 100 time. The JCW Mini is capable of hitting a top speed of 246 km/h.
The 2015 JCW Mini has an aerodynamically optimised body design with large cooling air inlets that also occupy the space allocated to the fog lamps in the MINI 3 door. The hot-hatch features distinctive side sill and rear apron design, a John Cooper Works rear spoiler, LED headlamps with white direction indicators, wheel arch surround with distinctive contours, side scuttles and tailgate with John Cooper Works label. The rear is accentuated by a sports exhaust system with special tailpipes while the entire package is painted in a new shade of Rebel Green, available exclusively for the new MINI John Cooper Works.
The Mini John Cooper Works adopts a newly developed Brembo sports braking system, comes with exclusive 17-inch John Cooper Works Race Spoke light alloy wheels, an electromechanical power steering with Servotronic, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) and Performance Control. Dynamic Damper Control is further optionally available.
On the inside one can find exclusive John Cooper Works sports seats in Dinamica/fabric with integrated headrests, John Cooper Works entry sills, John Cooper Works steering wheel with multifunction buttons and shift paddles in conjunction with 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission, John Cooper Works gear lever or selector lever; cockpit displays, central instrument display and pedals and driver footrest in stainless steel.
