MG is working on a new 5-seater SUV for the Chinese market and its images have been leaked. MG is one of the top manufacturers in China and to keep a fresh line up, it is all ready to launch a 5 seater SUV. This new 5 seater SUV will be named as ‘MG One’. There is currently no official statement from the company regarding this SUV that whether it will enter India or not. MG India already has the Astor in the pipeline which is basically the petrol-powered version of the ZS EV that is already on sale in India.
Looks
By looking at these images, we can observe that the front fascia is dominated by a huge blacked-out grille combined with the black front bumper. The headlamps also align properly with the overall design. Headlamps come with a LED setup. The MG One is draped in a cool shade of blue in these leaked images and to be honest, it looks rather elegant, while the whole design philosophy of the vehicle gives out strong Crossover vibes. Aesthetic features like body-cladding and split-type 5-spoke dual-tone alloys give the SUV an aggressive look.
Now coming to the rear, the rear looks rather crowded, the most interesting parts however would be the tail-lamps and the high-mounted stop lamp. In terms of dimensions, the MG One measures 4,579 mm in length, 1609 mm in height and 1,866 mm in width. Its wheelbase stands at 2,670 mm.
Expected specs
MG One is likely to be equipped with a 4-cylinder 1.5L turbo petrol motor which is expected to dish out 178 bhp of max power. Peak torque output is expected to be in the range of 250-260 Nm. Transmission options should mostly include a 6-speed MT and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. While there is no confirmation as of now, a plug-in hybrid variant could also be introduced by MG in the future.
The launch and deliveries of the MG One in China will commence this year itself. There is no official statement but MG will plan to sell the One to other countries as well.
