MG (Morris Garages) Motor unveiled the Hector SUV today, one of India’s first internet car with 50+ connected features. It will also be available as India’s first 48V hybrid SUV and comes with 19 exclusive features that will attempt to create a new benchmark in the segment.

MG Hector Engine Options
MG’s first product for India will offer two engine choices – 2.0-litre Fiat-sourced turbodiesel engine rated for 170 PS and 350 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only and 1.5-litre turbo petrol good for 143 PS, 250 NM, mated to a 6-speed manual or Dual-clutch gearbox. The petrol engine (manual variants) will also be offered paired with a 48V hybrid system which will charge its batteries during braking and assist the powertrain with an extra 20 Nm of boost when required. Designed and developed for Indian customers, the Hector has been built to withstand extreme road conditions and has been tested for over one million kilometres in India before entering production at the company’s plant in Halol, Gujarat.
In terms of fuel economy, the MG Hector’s petrol variants will return 14 Km/l and the diesel is rated for 17 km/l. MG Motor India will begin shipments of the Hector SUV within the next few weeks to its widespread network of 120 outlets across 50 cities. The carmaker aims to expand its network to 250 outlets by the end of September this year. Pre-orders of Hector will begin next month.

The Hector is 4655 mm long, 1835 mm wide and 1760 mm tall. The SUV sits 192 mm above the ground and has a wheelbase of 192mm
MG Hector Safety Features
Top variants of the Hector will offer as many as 6 airbags, whereas the base will offer only 2. In addition to that, the Hector features ESP, disc brakes on all four corners, ABS+EBD+Brake Assist, front parking sensors, 360-degree camera (top variant), Tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts on all variants and electronic parking brake (automatic variants only).

The MG Hector will be available in four variants – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. Expected to be priced between INR 13 to 19 Lakh when it goes on sale in June 2019. The carmaker aims to expand its network to 250 outlets by the end of September this year.
