Mercedes-Benz India recently imported a unit of the GLE in India from Germany. Now, according to a report, the German carmaker has commenced the bookings for the model in India. The car can be booked with a payment of INR 3 lakh.
As already known, the GLE is nothing but the renamed M-Class model under a new nomenclature system adopted by Mercedes-Benz. Upon its launch this year, the GLE will take on the likes of BMW X5, Audi Q5, Range Rover Sport and the new Volvo XC90.
On the exterior front, the GLE adorns the company’s family front-end styling that was showcased on the GLE Coupe at the Los Angeles Motor Show last year. The SUV also gets new LED lights front and rear, large air-dams, silver skid-plate front and back and twin rectangular exhausts and roof rails.
The interior of the GLE draw inspiration from the outgoing M-Class but it gets a new multi-function steering wheel and a freestanding infotainment system. Mercedes has also given the GLE a revised color palette – that includes ginger beige, espresso brown, saddle brown and porcelain – and an extensive assortment of trim. Customers can choose from aluminum, carbon fiber, piano black, brown ash, brown eucalyptus and brown burred walnut. The GLE gets a new seven-inch free-standing infotainment screen.
Mercedes-Benz will be launching the V6 equipped GLE 350d variant which will pump out 255 bhp from its 3.0 liter mill. Also on offer will be the GLE 250d variant powered by a 2.1 liter diesel mill cranking out 203 bhp.
