Maruti unveiled three major upcoming products at the Auto Expo 2023, the eVX concept, the Jimny 5-door, and the Fronx. Fronx is the automaker’s Baleno-based coupe-SUV with new exterior styling like the split LED headlamps inspired by the Grand Vitara.

The automaker has planned to grab more market share in the country’s SUV segment by launching multiple SUVs this year. This subcompact SUV is expected to go on sale via Maruti’s NEXA dealerships by the month of April this year.
Maruti Fronx: Specs, Engines & Powertrain Options
Following the launch, there will be two petrol engine options offered on the Fronx and the 1.0-liter Booster Jet engine makes a comeback. The 1.2-liter K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine produces 113Nm of torque at 4,400rpm and 89bhp at 6,000rpm. Both a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT are offered for this engine.

The 1.0-liter Booster Jet turbo petrol engine, on the other hand, makes 147.6Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,500rpm and 99bhp at 5,500rpm. Both a six-speed automatic and a five-speed manual transmission are offered for the turbo engine.
Maruti Fronx: Styling & Exterior Design

The Fronx gets a split headlamp setup alongwith Maruti’s signature three-element design pattern at the front DRLs & rear taillamps. The headlights are placed lower on the bumper and have three separate reflector-based LED beams. The bonnet is long with an upright nose and a smart-looking front portion housing the NEXWave grille in gloss black.
There’s a nifty chrome bar on the front grille alongwith a silver skid plate at the front, sides, and rear. The Fronx is almost identical to the Baleno from the side as the window-line of the subcompact SUV is similar. Body cladding running around and flared wheel arches are also part of the package.

As we move toward the rear, the coupe elements become more apparent as the sloping roofline tapers downward. It then meets the tailgate which is raked aggressively. The rear of the SUV has been designed with an LED light bar connecting the taillights which also sport the three-element design.

Maruti Fronx: Interiors
The interiors of the Fronx are pretty similar to the Baleno’s interior with an identical dashboard layout and steering wheel. The instrument cluster, AC controls, AC vents, 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment display, and heads-up display are shared with the hatchback.

The only difference is a chunky matt-grey-colored element fitted around the AC vent and dash on the co-driver’s side. The infotainment screen & center AC vents are also surrounded by two satin-silver finished parts on the otherwise dark-brown interior.
