In the latest update, Mahindra has just clarified that they are not revealing the 5-door version of Thar. However, Mahindra might showcase the Electric version of the Thar as a new Concept in the event.

The features of Mahindra Thar Electric Concept
Mahindra is preparing to showcase the new Thar Electric Concept. For retaining its off-road character, the concept version will have the new 4×4 drivetrain system. Unlike other 4WD electric vehicles that use a 2-motor set-up, the Thar will utilize a 4-motor system.
It seems possible that the new Thar EV Concept will have the crab walk feature. This feature is already available in some electric SUVs like the new Hummer.
However, the crab walk allows the SUV to turn its all wheels to 45 degrees. With this feature, the SUVs can perform a 360-degree burnout. Also, the SUV will showcase the sideways rolling feature. With this feature, the SUV can be parked in tight parking spaces.
The Platform of the Thar Electric

Currently, there is no clarification about the platform of the new Thar Electric Concept. It is unknown whether the new Thar Electric uses a similar ladder frame platform as its IC engine sibling or a new ladder frame platform.
Meanwhile, it seems possible that Mahindra could use a monocoque platform for the Electric version of Thar. The adoption of a monocoque platform will reduce the weight of the SUV for an improved driving range.
On the flip side, we can expect that the new Thar Electric might use the ladder-on-frame platform. The Ladder on Frame platform is already being used in some global SUVs like Ford F-150 Lightning. However, Ford has used this platform for improved off-road and load-towing capabilities.
Launch Timeline of Mahindra Thar Electric
Currently, there is no clear information related to the launch of the Mahindra Thar Electric SUV. Moreover, the SUV maker is yet to make calculations for the production feasibility of the SUV.
On August 15, the SUV manufacturer might showcase the Thar Electric concept at an event in South Africa. In addition, they will also be showcasing a pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N and a new platform for tractors.
