Mahindra Thar Armada Base to Top Variants Spied

Mahindra is set to launch the Thar Armada which will rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door and the upcoming Force Motors Gurkha 5-Door

Extensive Testing and Development

Mahindra is renowned for thorough testing of its prototypes before market release. The Thar Armada, particularly the 5-Door variant, has undergone rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Base Variant Insights

The base variant of the Thar Armada offers a glimpse into its essential features. While most attributes are known, pricing details will be unveiled at the launch event scheduled for August 15th, 2024. Recent sightings of test mules in Chengalpett, Tamil Nadu, reveal distinct differences across trim levels. The base variant lacks a rear washer and wiper present in mid and top-spec trims. Additionally, it features five silver steel wheels, contrasting with the alloy wheels seen on higher trims.

Mid Variant Details

Moving up the ladder, the mid variant of the Thar Armada introduces notable upgrades. While sharing some similarities with the base variant, the mid-spec trim showcases a different alloy wheel design. However, the top-spec variant retains the same alloy design across all five wheels. Notably, there is speculation that the base variant may miss out on rear disc brakes, a feature expected in higher trims.

Top Variant Enhancements

The top variant of the Thar Armada brings significant enhancements over its predecessor. Recent sightings of test mules reveal consistent design elements, including a unique rear quarter glass design. Inside, automotive enthusiasts have captured detailed images showcasing a modern dashboard with a 10-inch infotainment system, reminiscent of the XUV400 EL Pro. Noteworthy features include front and rear armrests, rear AC vents, and an improved boot space with a subwoofer.

Powertrain and Launch Details

Powering the Thar Armada are the same 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines found in the 3-Door Thar model. Initially, Mahindra will launch 4X4 versions, with 4X2 variants expected later. Standard features across all trims include a locking rear differential, ensuring superior off-road capabilities.
