Mahindra Centuro TVC gets more than 2 Lakh views in 3 days!

Mahindra-Centuro-Review-Mileage-Specs-8

The past few days have seen us posting a fair bit about the recently launched Mahindra Centuro, which finds itself in the very competitive 100-110 cc segment of our Indian two wheelers market.

Now, what you see here is the new TV Commercial for the Mahindra Centuro. From what we know, the TVC hasn’t yet made it to national television. However, it has managed to get over 2 lakh hits on the tube, in just 3 days! The can ad be found at the YouTube channel of Mahindra Power Scooters. The TVC has been shot in Poland and gives the Centuro a tagline of ‘It’s Great to be me’.

The new bike has gone on sale for an introductory price of just INR 45,000/- (ex-showroom New Delhi). What’s even better is that the first 10,000 Centuro buyers will get the bike for INR 44,000/-

“The new Mahindra Centuro is a class-defining product that aims to address the inherent needs of the Indian consumer in the two wheeler segment. It has been completely engineered around the consumer and his needs and is, in fact, a physical manifestation of what we perceive as ‘Customer Inspired Technology’. The Centuro is testimony to our determination to emerge as a serious player in the high volume commuter segment and resonates with our presence in the highly competitive Moto GP motorcycle racing championship,” said Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, at the launch event.

The Centuro is a direct rival of the highly popular trio of new Bajaj Discover 100T, new Hero Passion X Pro and the Honda Dream Yuga. However, with a pricing so competitive, the bike also challenges the likes of Hero Passion and entry level models in the Discover line up.

The Centuro gets upmarket features such as Car-like remote key fob with incorporated LED torch, Find Me Lamps, Guide Me Home Lamps, an engine immobilizer, LED pilot lamps and a white backlit semi-digital speedometer console.

Powering the Mahindra Centuro is the same MCI-5 four stroke air cooled single cylinder 106cc engine that powers the Pantero. While the Centuro’s engine is very similar to that of the Pantero, intake and ignition/tuning system is new for the Centuro. This enables the motor to endow the bike with better performance and fuel efficiency. This engine, which has been developed “in-house” by Mahindra, has a max power output of 8.5 hp and a peak torque figure of 8.5 Nm. The motor comes mated to a four speed manual gearbox.

Mahindra claims a 0-60 kmph dash of 8.85 seconds for the Centuro. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of the bike is 85.4 kmpl. Also, M2W claim that this makes the Centuro the most fuel efficient bike in its category. The bike has been launched in just one variant (fully loaded) at the moment, with more variants to follow at a later stage.
