Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, joined hands with the Society for Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to commemorate World Anti-Counterfeiting Day on 8th June 2013. SIAM and Indian automotive players have been extremely concerned over the growing rate of spurious auto parts, roughly estimated at 36% of the INR 330 billion Indian automotive aftermarket*.

On this occasion, Mahindra’s channel network of dealers and spare part stockists across India took up different initiatives to create awareness about the issue. These included customer education through training and interaction with experts at various Mahindra dealerships, display of banners and posters and distribution of specially designed hand outs to customers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjoy Gupta, Vice President – Customer Care, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “The Auto industry is under pressure from thriving counterfeit trading of auto parts from the perspective of passenger safety, vehicle durability and value to customers. Counterfeiting is a global concern for the trade and economy. Mahindra, as a responsible automotive player, is taking aggressive steps to curb the usage of counterfeit parts in its network and ensure excellent supply of genuine spares to its countrywide channel network.”
