Lotus, known for its fast cars, is now diving into electric vehicles with the Lotus Emaya. It’s a stylish electric car designed to compete with others like the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S. Additionally, this comes just a year and a half after Lotus revealed its first electric SUV, the Eletre. These new cars are made in China.
Lotus Emaya Electrifying Performance
The Emeya stands on Lotus’s Electric Premium Architecture, a versatile platform designed to accommodate various segments and battery configurations. Despite being a departure from their iconic sports cars, performance remains a paramount focus. Additionally, the fastest Emeya boasts a dual-motor setup, propelling it with a staggering 918 horsepower and 984 Newton-meters of torque, enabling a blistering 0-100kph sprint in 2.8 seconds. Moreover, this places the Emeya among the quickest four-door vehicles on the market, aligning it with the top-tier Taycan Turbo S.
Lotus Emaya Powertrain and Range
Equipped with a 102kWh battery pack, the Emeya’s range, though unspecified, is expected to be on par with the Eletre. The latter achieves 600km in its entry-level and S variants, and 490km in the high-power R models. What’s more, the charging at rates of up to 350kW enables a 150km range boost in just five minutes, and a 10-80 percent charge in as little as 15 minutes.
Lotus Emaya Advanced Engineering for Superior Dynamics
The Emeya integrates an advanced air suspension system. Dynamically adjusting to the road surface by pre-tuning the dampers at each corner of the vehicle. Moreover, active aerodynamic elements, including the grille, rear diffuser, and an extended rear spoiler, contribute to stability and efficiency at speed.
Interior: A Fusion of Performance and Luxury
Inside, performance-oriented elements like carbon-bodied front seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel harmonize with opulent features such as individual rear seats, digital rear-view mirror screens, and high-quality materials. The cabin boasts an expansive 55.0-inch head-up display, projecting critical information across the windscreen. Furthermore, a central touchscreen with 5G connectivity and over-the-air updatability, flanked by two additional digital displays, completes the high-tech cockpit.

Lotus is planning to make more electric cars. Moreover, Lotus is also working on a sporty SUV which will rival the Porsche Macan and a new version of the Elise. These cars are set to follow similar footsteps of the Emeya and the Eletre. The Emeya will be manufactured in Wuhan, China in 2024. It will have different variants with different features, just like the Eletre.
