LeEco to unveil EV concept prototype at the Beijing Auto Show

LeEco, earlier known as LeTv, announced their Super Electric Ecosystem (SEE) plan over a year ago and since then the company has teamed up with various organisations to underpin their project. In the course of the same LeEco has got into a joint venture with Aston Martin, also, invested in Chinese ride-sharing app Yidao Yongche and Beijing Dianzhuang Technology Ltd. Further, LeEco has also joined hands with smart EV start-up Faraday Future for strategic cooperation. With all these organisations onboard as a team, LeEco is all set to uncover their concept of its Le Super Car at 2016 Beijing Auto Show.

LeEco has appointed Dr.Kai Ni – Chinese autonomous driving expert, as Vice President, Smart Driving of LeAuto (China). The appointment was announced at a news conference hosted by LeAuto’s leading Internet of Vehicles (IoV) system – LeAutoLink. Ni has worked at Microsoft and participated in 3D mapping and HoloLens augmented reality R&D projects. He also played an important role in the robotics project team commissioned by Bill gates. In 2013 Kai joined Baidu as Senior Researcher of the Institute of Deep Learning, leading the R&D of Baidu autonomous car and unmanned aerial vehicles. In December 2015, the program completed its first road test in Beijing, marking a new chapter in the development of autonomous driving technology in China.

Recently, Chairman and CEO of Daimler (Greater China Region) Hubertus Troska and Professor Hans Georg Engel, R&D head of Daimler China visited LeEco in order to explore potential cooperation in areas of autonomous driving. LeEco’s automotive arm, LeAuto is in a process of solidifying its position throughout the entire automotive value chain, including smart, Internet-connected EV R&D, production and manufacturing, sales, EV charging strategy, after-sales services, and car sharing.

Speaking on the occasion of Lei Ding, co-founder and global vice chairman of LeAuto said that LeEco has placed a high priority on smart driving technology and its strategic positioning within its SEE Plan starting from last year. As soon as Kai Ni and other talent join their team, their progress in seizing the leadership position in this brand-new arena will be greatly accelerated.
