Kia India Registers Strong Start to 2025 with 25,025 Units Sold

  • Kia India records 25,025 unit sales in January 2025, reflecting a 5% Y-o-Y growth.
  • Newly launched Kia Syros debuts with 5,546 units, signaling strong customer interest.
  • Exports of 1,454 units to 70 global markets reaffirm Kia’s growing international presence.

Kia India has started 2025 on a positive note, reporting 25,025 units sold in January, marking a 5% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth over 23,769 units in January 2024. This growth comes despite increasing competition in the SUV and MPV segments.

Kia India January sales split

The newly launched Kia Syros, a compact SUV, has made an impressive debut with 5,546 units sold in its first month, reflecting strong customer demand. Meanwhile, Kia’s core models—the Sonet and Seltos—continue to be the volume drivers, recording 7,194 and 6,470 units, respectively. The Carens MPV also maintained its steady performance, selling 5,522 units in January.

Kia’s premium Carnival Limousine, though a niche offering, saw 293 units dispatched, highlighting sustained demand for high-end MPVs.

Kia Syros: A new player in the competitive compact SUV segment

The Kia Syros, launched in January, aims to strengthen Kia’s presence in the sub-compact SUV market. Positioned below the Seltos, it competes with models like the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and Tata Nexon.

Key specifications of the Syros include:

  • Engine Options: 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol.
  • Transmission: Manual and automatic variants.
  • Features: Connected car technology, a digital instrument cluster, and an advanced infotainment system.
  • Price: Starts at ₹8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

While the Syros offers a feature-rich package, it faces stiff competition from the Tata Nexon’s safety features, Hyundai Venue’s tech-loaded cabin, and Maruti Brezza’s fuel efficiency. However, its aggressive pricing and Kia’s brand appeal could make it a strong contender in the segment.

Kia’s growing global presence

Apart from domestic sales, Kia India exported 1,454 units to 70 international markets, reinforcing its role as an export hub for global markets. With a diverse lineup catering to different price segments, Kia continues to strengthen its international footprint.
