A replacement to the ER-6n, the new Z650 benefits from the Sugomi design philosophy that can be seen from the sleeker body work apart from the new tank fairing and headlight. Moving on to the instrument cluster, the bike receives an analogue style tachometer and a multi function LCD screen divided by the gear position indicator.

Akin to other products from the Akashi based motorcycle maker, the engine of the Z650 too has been re-tuned in order to conform to the Euro 4 emission norms. The 649cc parallel twin motor now has a power output of 69 hp, 3 hp lower than the outgoing model, while the fuel efficiency has gone up by 6.8%.
