India’s First 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom Lands In Chennai, Launch On February 22

The eighth generation Rolls-Royce Phantom was unveiled in July last year following which the model was showcased in the flesh at a showroom in U.K. Now, a few images shared on social media reveal that the first unit of the 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom has discreetly made its way to India.

The single image reveals a white coloured 2018 Phantom which has been freshly off-loaded at the docks in Chennai. According to sources in the know, the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII will be launched in India as early as this very month, and the launch date is said to be February 22.

Based on an all new Architecture of Luxury platform, the 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom is said to have taken inspiration from the Vision Next 100 concept. The front fascia of the model features a half inch taller hand polished stainless steel Pantheon grille, flanked by laser matrix headlamps which, the company claims, lights up the road up to 600 metres ahead.

At the heart of the all new Phantom is a 5.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. This motor has been tuned to produce a power output of 563 bhp while the peak torque is rated at a massive 900 Nm. Paired to an eight speed ZF automatic transmission, the new Phantom can run from naught to triple digit speeds in a mere 5.3 seconds.

Inside, owners of the 2018 Phantom will be greeted by its automatic opening doors until you attention moves to the dashboard which features wooden panels and buttons crafted out of metal. Also on offer is what Rolls calls a gallery, which is otherwise their twin 12.3 inch LED displays. No, we’re not done yet. In fact, the real magic lies at the rear, where you can relax and convert your ‘regular’ couch position to the flat bed option. And for those of you who prefer to be recognised by the exclusivity of your vehicle, Rolls-Royce can (and we aren’t kidding here) feature a gold plated 3D printed map of your DNA if you so choose to. What all boxes does this Phantom VIII tick when it comes to the customisation department? We should find out soon when the launch takes place. Stay tuned.
