It is finally official! Iconic bike maker Indian Motorcycles will step into the fast emerging bike market of our country on January 22.
Indian Motorcycles’ product portfolio for India will most likely include the new range of bikes that was unveiled earlier in August this year and this means that the three new cruisers, viz- Indian Chief Classic, Indian Chief Vintage and Indian Chieftain, have good chances of making it to us. All the three new models are powered by an all-new Thunder Stroke 111 engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new engine has a cubic capacity of 111 cubic inches (hence the name) and has a max torque of 161.6 Nm at 3,000 rpm.
There are good chances that the Indian Motorcycles will come to us via CBU route from the bike maker’s production facility at Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Of the three upcoming motorbikes, the new Indian Chief Classic is the most affordable and the prices of this model start in US market at USD 18,999 (approx INR 11.83 lakhs). The next model in the new range, the Chief Vintage, has a sticker price of USD 20,999 (INR 13.08 lakhs) and the new Chieftain, which is the flagship model in this line up, is on sale in US for USD 22,999 (INR 14.32 lakhs).
The new Indian Motorcycles Chieftain boasts of features like- powered windshield, an audio system hard saddle bags, electronic locks for the saddle bags and auxiliary headlights.
