India-spec Skoda Octavia RS to be powered by a 230 PS petrol motor

According to a report which confirms the specifications of the upcoming Skoda Octavia vRS prior to its official launch, the fast hatch will only be offered with a petrol engine. A 2.0-litre TSI motor which also sits under the hood of an Audi TT. However, unlike elsewhere, where it is also available in a 245 PS state of tune, the one to be sold in India will develop 230 PS. The Octavia vRS will still sprint from 0 – 100 in 6.8 seconds and go on to hit a top speed of up to 250 kph.

Apparently, these figures are true to the slides shown at the pre-launch technical brief which happened earlier this month, where Skoda did tell us that the 2.0-litre TSI will churn out 169 KW/230 PS, paired to a 6-speed DSG / Manual. However, the one you can buy in India will only come fitted with the former. The report states that the Skoda Octavia vRS will be available in four colours – Candy White, Corrida Red, Steel Grey and Race Blue. Differentiating it from the vanilla Octy will be external features like a boot spoiler, chrome tipped dual exhaust pipes and a reflective insert in the rear bumper.

The India-spec RS will ride on 17-inch wheels and the all-black cabin will get a flat bottom wheel, red contrast stitching on the upholstery and sportier seats which will offer better support when going fast around bends. The car can be booked right now before it is formally launched towards the end of this month, while deliveries will begin in September. All of this indicates that India will be getting the RS 230, instead of the RS 245 which makes as many horses, comes paired with a 7-speed DSG and boasts of a 0.2-second advantage till 100 kph over the former, thanks to the additional power. Instead of chrome on the RS 230, the Octavia RS 245 gets black finished external bits and 19″ Extreme Alloy Wheels.
