We had earlier reported that Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki was working on a 250cc version of the Versys. The Indonesian arm of the company had even registered two names for the Versys 250, suggesting that the model would be available in two variants.
Now, Kawasaki Motor Indonesia has launched the Versys-X 250 in the region with prices starting at IDR 61.9 million. Available in two variants known as the Versys 250 Adventure and the Versys-X 250 Tourer, they come with a price tag of IDR 61.9 million (approximately INR 3.13 lakh) and IDR 72.7 million (approximately INR 3.68 lakh) respectively.

Powering the Versys-X 250 would be a 250cc liquid cooled parallel twin cylinder engine. Power output details remain undisclosed but it can be safe to assume that the model, which shares the same engine as the Z250 and the Ninja 250R, could produce 32 PS and 21 Nm of torque. Power would be sent to the rear wheel via six speed transmission.
The instrument cluster of the Versys-X 250 features an analogue tachometer flanked by a digital multi-function LCD display on the right side and the tell-tale lights on the left side. Both variants receive 19 inch spoke wheels up-front and 17 inch spoke wheels at the rear, all wrapped in multi-purpose tyres. Standard features on both the variants include ABS and slipper clutch while the fully-loaded Versys-X 250 comes equipped with additional goodies such as hard panniers, LED fog lamps, DC outlet, knuckle guards and a centre stand.
It would not be incorrect to expect the motorcycle to arrive on Indian shores although there is no official announcement on that front yet. The bigger Versys motorcycles, the 650 and 1000, are already available in India and we expect this entry level model to join the list some time in 2017.
