In the history of cars, there aren’t many that can claim to have sold over 10 million units. The Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, VW Beetle and Golf, and the Ford Model T and F-Series are just some of the ten that has ever accomplished this feat. And now, Hyundai is joining this prestigious club with the recent sale of its 10 millionth Hyundai Elantra.
The Elantra, launched more than two decades ago, is, by far, Hyundai’s top selling model. Offered in the guises of coupe, sedan, and wagon, it is now into its fifth generation and sales shows no signs of slowing down.

So lets break down the numbers, shall we? The Elantra was first introduced into the market in 1990. Even if you don’t account for open business hours and holidays, this means that Hyundai has sold more than 45 new Elantras every hour of every day of every year since its birth. That’s a prodigious feat by any margin.
The Elantra is also sold by the Avante model name in its home market of Korea.
