Hyundai Organizes Samarath Championship for Blind Cricket

Hyundai has unveiled the Samarath Championship for Blind Cricket, forming an International Bilateral Blind Men’s Cricket Series under its ‘Samarth’ initiative.

This event, organized in collaboration with the ‘Cricket Association for the Blind in India’ and the ‘Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled,’ promises an inspiring cricketing spectacle.

The Series Details

The cricket series features the Indian Men’s Blind Cricket Team engaging in a five-match competition against the Sri Lankan Men’s Blind Cricket Team.

The matches are scheduled to enthrall fans at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi, from the 11th to the 15th of March 2024.

Hyundai’s Philanthropic Arm

The event is spearheaded by Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), HMIL’s philanthropic arm. Mr. Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head, Corporate Affairs at HMIL, highlighted the significance of the ‘Samarth’ initiative, aiming to create awareness, enablement, and a more inclusive society for people with disabilities.

Mr. Durga Rao Tompaki – Captain of Indian Men’s Blind Cricket Team

Expressing his gratitude towards Hyundai Motor India, Cricket Association for the Blind in India, and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Mr. Tompaki shared the players’ dreams of participating in multiple cricket tournaments against top teams globally.

He emphasized the positive energy gained from recent victories and how these matches would prepare them for the upcoming 4th T20 World Cup in November.

Dr. Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar – Chairman of CABI

Dr. Kivadasannavar expressed honor in partnering with Hyundai Motor India, emphasizing the opportunities provided to visually impaired players.

He sees this collaboration as a crucial step in promoting blind cricket and building on the success of their recent series in Dubai.

The Samarath Initiative

Launched in November 2023, the ‘Samarth’ initiative aims to create an inclusive, progressive world through the power of mobility. Hyundai, under this initiative, is striving to make its digital and physical presence accessible to people with disabilities.

HMIF’s Partnership with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled

Under the ‘Samarth by Hyundai’ initiative, HMIF has partnered with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled to support differently-abled individuals.

This collaboration extends beyond cricket, encompassing various programs aimed at the physical and social development of visually impaired individuals.
