The Hyundai Creta has to be one of the most eagerly awaited cars in recent times, one that already has people queuing up at dealerships, cheque books in hand. So much so that already 10,000 buyers have shown a positive interest to buy the car within just 10 days of start of the Creta teaser campaign.
Prices for Hyundai’s first ever compact SUV in India have been leaked, and purportedly start at INR 9.14 lakh. The Creta will be available with a choice of three power-plants, which include two diesel engines (1.4- and 1.6-liter CRDi), and one petrol engine (1.6-liter VTVT). The 1.6 liter CRDi diesel variant also gets a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the rest will be equipped with 6-speed manual transmissions.
The Creta range will spawn five trim levels – Base, S, S+, SX, SX+ and SX(O). While the The Base trim will be available only with the 1.6-liter VTVT and 1.4-liter CRDi variants, S and S+ trims will solely be limited to the 1.4-liter CRDi variant. Compared to the Renualt Duster, the Hyundai Creta’s premium pricing will thin your wallet a fair margin. While the basic, petrol powered Duster RXe starts at INR 8.34 lakh, the basic, petrol powered Creta will purportedly retail for INR 9.14 lakh.
Comparing Duster 85 PS (diesel) prices to the Creta 1.4 CRDi’s, the latter, priced at a reported 9.91 lakh (Base) will also be dearer than the former, which starts from INR 9.12 lakh (85 PS RXe).
Going up the ladder, even the Creta 1.6 CRDi stands more expensive than the Duster 110 PS (diesel), with the top end Creta SX (O) 1.6 CRDi retailing from a reported INR 14.53 lakh, as compared to the Duster 110PS Rxz (O)’s INR 12.81 lakh, and 110 PS RxZ AWD’s INR 13.97 lakh.
