Hyundai Creta Dominates the Indian Market

In April 2024, the Hyundai Creta continues to solidify its position as a market leader in India. With pending orders standing at approximately 35,000 units.

Creta’s Sales Performance

Since the launch of the Creta facelift in January, Hyundai has witnessed a remarkable 12.5 percent year-on-year growth in sales, with an average monthly sale of over 15,000 units. In April alone, 15,447 units of the Creta were sold, highlighting its unwavering popularity among Indian consumers.

Hyundai’s Order Book

Hyundai reveals that the Creta commands over 50 percent of its total order book, which currently stands at 70,000 units. Since the facelift’s launch, Hyundai has received over one lakh fresh orders for the midsize SUV, underscoring the sustained demand and widespread appeal of the Creta in the domestic market.

SUV Dominance in Hyundai’s Portfolio

Hyundai further asserts its stronghold in the SUV segment, with 67 percent of its total sales in April 2024 attributed to SUVs. Among these, the Creta emerges as the top performer, followed by the Venue and the Exter. This robust performance reinforces Hyundai’s position as a dominant player in India’s SUV market.

Urban and Suburban Market Dynamics

Interestingly, Hyundai observes a balanced 67 percent contribution from both urban and suburban markets towards the sales of key SUVs, including the Creta and Venue. This convergence signifies evolving consumer preferences, driven by rising aspirations and improving infrastructure in suburban India.

Inventory Management and Fulfillment

Despite a substantial order backlog, Hyundai maintains an optimal inventory level of 43,000 units, equivalent to approximately 22 days of stock. This strategic approach ensures efficient fulfillment of pending bookings, supported by an enhanced supply chain and improved chip availability.

Hyundai’s Future Endeavors

Looking ahead, Hyundai is poised to introduce two new offerings in the Indian market—a heavily updated Alcazar SUV and the Creta EV, the brand’s first mass-market electric SUV.
