Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) may be on track with its schedule for introducing 15 new models in the Indian two-wheeler market, but the delay in introducing its new CBR300R is disappointing its fans who are now turning their attention to alternative brands. The Indonesian market, on the other hand, is enjoying more and more products from manufacturers like Yamaha and Honda. The likes of the new Yamaha YZF-R3 and Yamaha MT-25 are already rolling on the Indonesian tarmac, while we still await confirmation on these products from the Japanese manufacturer.
Here is one more reason to envy the Indonesian motoring fraternity and enthusiasts. The Southeast Asian nation will soon receive a new, more subtle Honda product in the form of the CB150R. Latest reports from TMCBlog reveal the official leaked images depicting this new Honda destined for the Indonesian markets.
There isn’t much we can glean from these two grainy spy shots, but, as far as we can tell, the front fascia reminds us of a product from our homeland, the Bajaj AS200. Other features discernible here include an all-digital instrument cluster and LED turn indicators.
The new Honda CB150R will reportedly be powered by a 149.4cc liquid cooled single cylinder engine – the same motor that powers the Honda CBR150R – delivering 18.28 bhp of power and 12.66Nm of torque. Sadly, though, the motorcycle, like many Honda products in the 150cc segment, misses on the handlebar-mounted engine kill switch. As it stands, the CB150R will be a premium offering from Honda and there is very little possibility of seeing this motorcycle on the Indian shores.
