Harley is not committing the Street 500 for India yet: Street 750 to come first

In a development that might take you by surprise, it has emerged that Harley Davidson India might NOT launch the recently unveiled 2014 Street 500 in India! The revelation comes through Harley Davidson India’s official Facebook page (in a reply to a query posted by our friend Mvkss Sandeep.)

Harley Daivdson Street 500 India Launch

That while it logically makes sense for Harley Davidson to introduce the new Street 500 in India, they have not made any official statement about it yet. However, with this update on FB, one thing that is for sure is that the Street 750 is coming here first. The new Street 500 however, may or may not follow. However, we would like to repeat the it does make a lot of sense for Harley Davidson to introduce the Street 500 in India. It may be noted that both the 2014 Street 500 and Street 750 would be manufactured in India and local manufacturing, along with heavy localization, means that the bike maker could price the two new bikes ultra competitively. It is being guessed that the Street 500, if at all it is launched in India, could go on sale at a price of INR 4.25 lakhs. The Street 750, which is surely headed to us, would have a price tag of approx INR 5.5 lakhs.

  1. They already have the 883 Superlow in the 5.6-5.9L price range. Who would buy a Street 750 for the same price 5.5L then? The logical pricing should be 4L for the Street 500 & 4.5L for the Street 750 as both bikes are similar.
