Gogoro Launches Battery Swapping Ecosystem & Smart Scooters

Gogoro Inc.has officially launched its Battery Swapping ecosystem and Smart Scooters in India, marking a significant stride towards sustainable urban mobility solutions.

The company, a global leader in this innovative field, has not only introduced its renowned Gogoro CrossOver series but also unveiled the first-ever India-made Smartscooter, the CrossOver GX250.

Gogoro’s Indian Expansion

As of December 12, 2023, Gogoro’s battery swapping network is now operational in Delhi and Goa, targeting B2B customers initially. However, ambitious plans are in place to extend this service to Mumbai and Pune, Maharashtra, by the first half of 2024, with consumer availability expected in the second quarter of the same year.

CrossOver GX250

Manufactured in Maharashtra, the CrossOver GX250 stands out as Gogoro’s inaugural India-made Smart Scooter. This vehicle captures the best features of Gogoro’s CrossOver series while integrating India-specific enhancements based on valuable feedback from Gogoro pilot riders in the country.

All-Terrain Chassis

The CrossOver GX250 boasts a newly developed all-terrain frame, offering heightened rigidity for improved strength and stability. With 176mm of ground clearance, the highest in Gogoro’s current lineup, this Smartscooter is optimized for various road conditions in India.

Performance and Control

Equipped with a 2.5 kW Direct Drive, the CrossOver GX250 achieves a top speed of 60+kph and a certified range of 111km. The innovative frame design enhances the durability of the suspension system, accommodating larger loads while prioritizing comfort and stability.

Flexible Cargo Capacity

Adaptability is a key feature of the CrossOver GX250, providing ample storage options with a new mounting point expansion system comprising 26 locking points. This allows for passenger riding space and versatile cargo areas, including a platform design headlight, foot, seat, and rear cargo space.

Certification and Recognition

In August, India’s International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) certified the CrossOver GX250 for the Indian market. Notably, Gogoro achieved a significant milestone in November by becoming the first foreign two-wheel OEM recognized by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), qualifying the CrossOver GX250 for EV financing programs.

Gogoro’s Vision for India

Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro, emphasized India’s pivotal role in the global urban transportation landscape. With over 250 million mopeds and motorcycles, India is poised to lead the transition to sustainable consumer and B2B transportation.

Commercial Partnerships for Sustainable Solutions

Gogoro recognizes the increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions in India, particularly in logistics, delivery fleets, and taxi services. The company collaborates with diverse partners across three core business categories.

1. Businesses and Fleet Operators

Large and small partners join forces with Gogoro to enable sustainable delivery companies and logistics fleets, transitioning from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to Gogoro battery swapping and Smart Scooters.

2. Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS)

Partnerships with companies like FutureEV pave the way for innovative business opportunities, leveraging Gogoro’s GoShare platform for fractional and shared mobility-as-a-service deployments.

3. Turnkey Solution

Collaborating with business partners, such as Nebula Energy in Nepal, Gogoro deploys comprehensive battery swapping ecosystems and Smart Scooters made in India to both domestic and international markets.

Conclusion

Gogoro’s entry into the Indian market signifies a monumental shift towards sustainable and intelligent transportation solutions. The CrossOver series, especially the India-made CrossOver GX250, presents a compelling option for riders seeking performance, adaptability, and eco-friendly mobility.

As Gogoro continues to forge commercial partnerships and make strides in the Indian market, the future of sustainable transportation looks promising.
