General Motors India have launched the new MY 2015 Chevrolet Captiva in India today. The soft roader, powered by a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine gets additional features and some other minor changes. The new version of the car has been priced at Rs 25,13,528 and Rs 27,36,192 ex-showroom Delhi for the MT and AT variants respectively. Those prices may look rather steep knowing how the people would overlook almost everything that enters the Toyota Fortuner range for a butch looking SUV. However, one look at the features offered on the new SUV, and you would realize that it’s quite well-equipped to command that price.
Engine and transmission
The new 2015 Captiva 2.2 is powered by a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine delivering peak power rated at 186.5bhp @ 3800 RPM and peak torque rated at 400 Nm @ 2000 RPM. Along with a five speed manual transmission, the big SUV is offered with an option of a six-speed automatic transmission along with an All Wheel Drive (AWD) system.
Changes on the exterior are almost invisible. The car retains its signature Chevrolet grille with a prominent Chevrolet bowtie. The SUV rides on 235/65 tyres wrapped around 17 inch alloy wheels. Projector headlamps up front, a large tailgate and stylish vertical LED tail lamps with indicators and reversing lamps contained in circular elements define the Captiva’s appearance from the outside.
The Captiva features a 5 + 2 Flexi Seating arrangement on the inside, and is technically capable of accommodating seven adults. With the second and third row of the car folded flat, the Captiva can make space for as much as 1565 liters of boot space.
For the 2015 version, the Captiva 2.2 gets jet-black interiors with leather upholstery. The new comfort and convenience features on the 2015 Captiva include, but are not limited to
- Cruise control
- Third-row heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system
- Electric parking brake

In addition, the Captiva continues to incorporate comfort features such as a dual zone AC, and has a large wet/dry area beneath the load compartment floor. The car also features an illuminated glove box, a deep Centre console bin, a rear centre console storage area and useful door bins.
Storage spaces come aplenty with bottle holders, small item/coin and cup holders, a parking ticket holder, seat-back pockets and a dual-compartment sliding driver’s armrest. The Captiva also features three 12-volt power outlets, making power available to all three rows.

The new Captiva, as before comes with a level ride suspension system, which automatically maintains essential ride height even under varying load conditions. This allows for optimal clearance even when the car is fully loaded along with consistent ride quality.
