Mercedes Maybach S Pullman

Geneva Motor Show 2015: Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman is sinfully luxurious

The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman marks the 50th anniversary of the original 600 Pullman saloon. One of the most extravagant and luxurious cars of the Geneva 2015 show, S600 Pullman gives you an opportunity to see how the rich and the powerful travel. The M-M S600 Pullman is perched at the pinnacle of the luxury offerings from the Stuttgart based German brand.

Mercedes-Maybach

Let’s start with the enormity of the limousine’s length. At 6.5 meters, the Pullman S600 is longer by 1053mm as compared to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and 1.3 meter longer as compared to the long wheelbase S-Class. So what do you do with all that legroom? We’d have put a snooker table there, but Mercedes-Maybach thought differently. Unlike most other luxury cars, the S600 Pullman can seat four, instead of the regular two occupants in the passenger compartment. The four seats face each other in pairs, with the more luxurious, executive seats facing the direction of travel. The opposite facing seats, technically, are meant for the staff or other aides. The additional seats can be removed, though, if the customer so wishes.

Interior

The luxuriously-appointed club lounge in the rear is meant for remorseless indulgence. There is a champagne chiller along with space for your wine glasses. The entire cabin is draped in the highest quality quilted leather with the executive seats offering the highest legroom for any car in the segment.

The executive seats offer unmatched comfort with a whole array of adjustments available for the executive occupants. The maximum backrest angle is 43.5 degrees with the most upright backrest position being 19 degrees, for the rare occasion when one may want to actually work from that throne. The seats also offer support for the calves, adjustable for length and angle. Ingress and egress is easy, thanks to the large rear doors and the headroom has been enhanced over the standard Mercedes S-Class offerings. Roof mounted analogue instruments keep the occupants updated about the outside temperature, speed and time. Sound is provided by the Burmester 3D surround system, which is the absolute best you can get in a car.

The partition between the driver and the passenger compartment can be electrically lowered, and can be turned transparent or opaque with the press of a button. There is also an 18.5-inch monitor in front of the partition which can be deployed electrically.

Pricing

The prices for the standard M-M S600 Pullman start at around half a million euros, or about 3.5 crore Indian rupees. But that’s just the beginning, as you can customize the car almost infinitely and bring that price up to a much higher level, if you find the standard tag too demeaning for your opulent stature. There is also an armoured version available.
