Fully digital Subaru Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo revealed; inspired by dried fish

The fully digital Subaru Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo is out. This bit of digital  imagination will find its way into the Gran Turismo 6 game when the next update is due. Picking a leaf from the Viziv 2 Concept that debuted at the Geneva show earlier this year, this Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo is a more adventurous interpretation. And yeah, the shape was inspired by a dried fish.

A dried fish? The design is inspired by katsuobushi, which  is the Japanese name for dried, fermented, and smoked skip-jack tuna fish- a delicacy with an iconic hard-edged shape. And katsuobushi is also hard, like wood. Likewise, the surfaces/shapes on the Viziv Gran Turismo are styled to look hard, woody and dry, and a humongous rear spoiler takes the cake at the rear.

Apart from that, the Viziv GT has little lights over each wheel arch that light up when the axle is receiving torque vectoring courtesy of three electric motors, one up front and two in the rear, which provide AWD. Subaru compares it to their “Symmetrical AWD” system, but this is a hybrid system unlike anything the company is doing now- by independently controlling each of the electric motor outputs, turning ability while cornering will be drastically improved.

Propelling the light-weight body is Subaru’s trademark 2-litre horizontally-opposed, direct injection turbocharged engine that has been tuned with revised restrictor diameters and is combined with one high-power motor in the front and two in the rear, achieving a total system power output of 591 BHP and 800 Nm(82 kgfm) of maximum torque.
