First Isuzu India showroom opens in Chennai

Isuzu Motors India Private Limited, the Japanese automobile maker and global diesel engine expert, recently opened its first showroom in Chennai at Ambattur Industrial Estate, the upcoming IT and industrial hub of Chennai. Spanning across an area of 3000 sq. ft., the Chennai showroom is a 3S set-up in which Isuzu will offer sales, service and spare parts under one roof.

Isuzu currently has two vehicles in India – MU-7 SUV and D-Max pick-up truck. The MU-7 is priced at Rs. 22.3 lakh – BS4 variant and 22 lakh for the BS3 variant (ex-showroom Chennai) and D-Max is priced at Rs 6.6 lakh.

The opening of Isuzu India’s first showroom follows the roll out of Isuzu’s first India-made, BS4 compliant MU-7. The company plans to beef up its national presence to 60 outlets by end of 2015-16 across India. Out of these, the company will open 5 dealerships in South in Madurai, Tirupati, Vishakhapatnam, Bangalore, Cochin by January 2014.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, Managing Director – Isuzu Motors India, said, “KUN, being one of the largest automotive dealers in India is now a valued partner for Isuzu also. With the launch of our Chennai dealership, we look forward to growing our market in South India and gradually across the country.

Isuzu has a contract manufacturing agreement with Hindustan Motors (HML) under which HML is contract assembling CKD kits of Isuzu’s sports utility vehicle MU-7 and pick-up truck D-Max, at its Thiruvallur, Chennai plant. Isuzu’s own manufacturing plant is likely to be operational by 2015-16.
