If there’s anything that will pose as a big threat to the supremacy of the Toyota Fortuner in India, it has to be the upcoming 2015 Ford Endeavour. To be brought here in kit form, the new Endeavour, called Everest elsewhere, will be assembled at Ford’s Chennai facility. Motoroids reader and our dear pal, Manikandan’s eagle eyes managed to capture the soon to be launched SUV, while it was being tested near Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu.
Three cars were snapped testing in India, one being a base model with black mirrors and door handles, while the other two had mirrors integrated with blinkers and their handles were chrome licked. Among the three, two were powered by the 2.2-liter diesel engine, mated to a 6-speed manual, while the third was powered by the 3.2-liter motor, paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Our guess is, India could get a base and a mid variant, powered by the 2.2-liter diesel motor, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the top model could be the one which gets the luxury of an auto shifter and 40 more bhps.
The 2015 Ford Endeavour in India could be powered by a TDCi 2.2-liter Duratorq VGT engine that pumps out 160 horsepower at 3,200 RPM and 385 Nm between 1600 and 2500 rpm. The other motor is a more powerful 3.2-liter Duratorq TDCi VGT unit that makes 200 hp at 3,000 RPM and of 470 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,500 rpm.
Brimming with features, below is what the 2015 Ford Endeavour could come packed with:
