This Custom Ducati 749 is a post-apocalyptic take on the original. There was nothing wrong with the way a Ducati 749 looks, but then Gustavo Penna or Apogee Motorworks thought otherwise.
The donor bike’s panels and fairings got stripped off and continue to be that way in the final product. To compliment the beastly looks, in went a more powerful 749R engine, complete with its racing cams, titanium valves, valve guides, connecting rods, magnesium head covers, a slipper clutch and carbon-fiber belt covers.
The rear sub-frame and fuel tank were substantially re-engineered to enable full adjustability. The tank gives off a raw, apocalyptic feel, with exposed weld lines and all. A new, stunning exhaust was designed with the help of someone who works at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, employing computational fluid dynamics to perfect the design and then handcrafting it from titanium. The red details accentuate the overall design.
What’s more fascinating is this custom Ducati’s clientele- three bikes have been built, one has been picked up by a Russian millionaire, the other two have gone to the CEO of Audi North America and the President of Azerbaijan respectively!
