While the official launch of the Yamaha YZF-R3 has been scheduled on August 11, 2015, some Yamaha dealerships in Mumbai have already begun accepting the bookings for this upcoming and highly awaited entry-level performance motorcycle. Positioned squarely against the Kawasaki Ninja 300, the Yamaha YZF-R3 can be booked for an amount of Rs 30,000. Deliveries, as indicated by our sources, would commence in the month of September. Although unconfirmed, the Yamaha YZF-R3 will most likely be available in two colours – Race Blue and Midnight Black.

While the official prices are still under the wraps, Yamaha dealers indicate that the YZF-R3 will be available for about Rs 3,50,000 (0n-road Mumbai). Sadly though, the motorcycle, similar to its prime rival in the Indian market, Kawasaki Ninja 300, will miss out on ABS, which we think is a travesty at this price point. The motorcycle should arrive at the dealerships by the end of this month if not before.
As reported before, the new Yamaha YZF-R3 will receive a newly developed engine and a lightweight chassis. The 321cc inline two-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the Yamaha YZF-R3 will deliver 42PS of power and 29.6Nm of torque and will come mated to a constant mesh, 6-speed transmission. The YZF-R3 uses R-series technology which includes a direct-drive camshaft, forged pistons, carburized con rods, low-friction cylinders and much more.
