The automotive industry in India is experiencing a major shift in the emission norms with the new stringent BS6 norms kicking in. We recently reported that Hero has unveiled the specifications of BS6 Xpulse 200 which experienced a slight drop in performance figures. Sometime back, Hero took the Xtreme 200S and Xpulse 200T off their website but now they have teased them both ahead of launch.

The Xtreme 200S can be viewed as a sportier, fully faired version of the Xtreme 200R naked. When it was first launched, the Xtreme 200S impressed us with comfortable riding dynamics and good handling capabilities. It kind of looked the part too, with its sporty fairing and LED headlamps up front. In its BS4 avatar, the Xtreme 200S was powered by a 200cc air-cooled engine that delivers 18.4 PS Power and 17.1 Nm Torque. It would be safe to assume that the BS6 version of the same will experience a mild drop in power like it happened with the Xpulse 200. The previous Xtreme 200S was air cooled but we witnessed an oil cooler making its way to the BS6 Xpulse 200, it is expected that the Xtreme 200S will receive an oil cooler as well.
The Xtreme 200S might gain some weight too, in the process of being BS6 compliant. Other cycle parts are expected to stay the same though. The BS4 version of the Xtreme 200S came with 7 step adjustable mono shock suspension, 276 mm Front Disc with single channel ABS and 220 mm Rear disc Brakes system for added safety. In its BS4 guise, it was offered in three colour options, namely Sports Red, Mapple Brown and Panther Black.
When launched, we can expect a bump in price just like the Xpulse 200. Watch this space for regular updates on new motorcycle and car launches.
