We so knew this was coming! Regulars here would remember that we recently posted a pic of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe being tested on the streets in Delhi. Now, the car has been launched at an ex showroom price of INR 86.4 lakhs.The new car will battle it out against the likes of Audi A7 and the Mercedes Benz CLS Class.
The 6 Series Gran Coupe is the German car maker’s first attempt to capture the emerging market of four door coupes. From what we know, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is almost a perfect amalgam of a performance car and a high end luxury sedan.
With the launch of BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, the carmaker will be selling the 6 series coupe, convertible and 4 door coupe in our rapidly developing car market.
The car boasts of an unmistakably BMW styling which is basically an evolution of the design seen on ‘Bangled Bimmers’ by BMW’s former design Chief Chris Bangle. The Gran Coupe’s styling oozes of sportiness and sophistication along with having an impressive aura about it.
On the inside, the upcoming Bimmer sports rich materials, has sporty panels and of course, is loaded to gills.
BMW India hsd launched the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe in its diesel avatar only. The Gran Coupe 640d sports a 2993cc oil burner that produces a peak power output of 313PS@4400rpm and a gut wrenching torque of 630Nm@ 1500-2500rpm. The motor is mated to an 8 speed auto transmission and if the claims by BMW are to be believed, this Bimmer dismisses the 100 kmph from standstill in a quick 5.4 seconds.
We are expecting that the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe 650i, which is powered by a 4.4 litre V8 petrol motor, will make its debut towards the end of next year. V8 produces 450PS@5500rpm-650Nm@ 2000-4500rpm.
At 5007mm, the Gran Coupe is longer than the 2 door coupe by 187mm. The wheelbase of the Gran Coupe measures 2968mm as compared to 2780mm wheelbase of the Coupe.
