The new Vision XS-1 will spawn a compact SUV in near future and in its concept avatar, boasts of single sliding doors on both sides, The concept SUV has a three-row seating arrangement and is a seven seater.

The new Honda Vision XS-1 concept follows its car maker’s renowned man maximum, machine minimum school of thought and in spite of being a compact SUV, would offer high levels of cabin space. For the exterior design, Honda has used the H concept language, which has also been used for the new gen City’s design.

It may be noted that earlier this year, we reported that the Vezel SUV is not coming to India and Honda would come up with a new compact SUV for Indian car market. Now, with the global debut of the Vision XS-1 concept, we have a fair idea of what the upcoming model would be like.

The new Honda Vezel went on sale in Japan recently and will also be launched in US next year. The Vezel will reach European markets only by 2015. The new Honda Vezel shares its platform with the latest generation Jazz and is on sale in Japan with two engine options- 1.5 liter petrol and 1.5 liter hybrid. The Vezel is available in both 2WD and 4WD layouts. For the US market, the car might also get a turbocharged 4 cyl petrol engine.

  1. Honda is known for providing cars, which are near identical to concept stage. Considering this, if XS-1 is launched in India, it will be an another flop for Honda. It is not because car looks bad, infact, it looks fab. However, the main problem lies in sliding doors. If actual production also has sliding doors, then it is doomed for failure. Conider paying 7+ Lakh and essentially getting a van layout. It would be rather sensical for Honda to launch Urban SUV at premium (say 9+ Lakh). Despite high price, Urban SUV has all the right ingredients to be another block buster for Honda.
