Audi Plans to Overtake BMW by 2020

The BMW vs Audi vs Mercedes has to be among the hottest topics of the luxury car segment. The German trio of luxury car makers have been battling it out in almost every luxury car market in the world and the all three have the same objective- To achieve the numero uno status among the luxury car makers in the world.

Currently, BMW is in the lead with Audi rapidly inching closer to the Bavarian rival. Audi has now stated that it plans to invest 17 billion dollars till 2016 to overtake BMW by 2020.

$10.6 billion of the total amount will be for upgrading plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. The luxury car maker also intends to expand assembling facilities in Gyor, Hungary and China. Other than this, Audi will also be seen coming up with a new assembly plant in San José Chiapa, Mexico.

A large part of the money will also be used for developing a range of new motors, innovations in electric mobility and development of lightweight construction techniques.

It remains to be seen if Audi successfully manages to overtake BMW and become the largest luxury car maker in the world.
