Introduction of the Ather 450S
Ather’s latest addition, the 450S, is an entry-level electric scooter priced at INR 129,999. It comes equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery capacity, providing a range of 115 km on a single charge. Furthermore, the scooter offers smooth acceleration from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 90 km/h. Notably, the 450S showcases India’s first DeepViewTM Display, improving rider interaction.
Key Features of the Ather 450S
- DeepViewTM Display: Ather introduces the DeepViewTM Display. It offers high contrast, auto-brightness adjustment, and 18-segment characters for easy readability under various lighting conditions.
- Enhanced Technology: The 450S includes new switchgear, FallSafeTM feature, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and coasting regen. Coasting regen technology boosts energy efficiency by recycling energy during coasting.
- Charging Convenience: Users can charge the 450S quickly using Ather Grid fast chargers, with a speed of up to 1.5 km per minute.
Upgraded Ather 450X
Ather’s existing model, the 450X, has also been updated with new features. It now offers the choice between 115 km and 145 km range variants, catering to different user preferences.
Safety Innovations
Both the 450S and 450X come with safety enhancements. FallSafeTM detects potential falls and turns off the motor while activating indicator lights. The ‘Emergency Stop Signal’ blinks the brake lights when panic braking occurs at speeds over 50 km/h, providing a warning to riders behind.
Availability and Pricing
The rollout of the updated lineup will begin with the 450X featuring a 2.9 kWh battery. OTA starting in the third week of August. The 450S will follow in the last week of August, while the 450X with a 3.7 kWh battery is expected in October.
Ex-showroom prices vary by market, ranging from INR 110,054 to INR 145,186. Customers can also choose the Pro pack for additional features, priced at INR 14,000 for the 450S, INR 16,000 for the 450X (2.9 kWh). And INR 23,000 for the 450X (3.7 kWh).
