What’s new?
The biggest talking point of the 450x Gen 3 has to be its bigger and more powerful 3.7 kWh battery pack. The battery is also 25% larger than the previous generation and it gets an ARAI-certified range of 146 km. However, the true range of the 450x gen 3 is around 105 km. Ather claims that the new battery helps riders in getting more consistent performance due to better thermal management. The ‘Ride’ mode has been improved as well in terms of power delivery and the 450X Gen 3 maintains its power throughout the ride, irrespective of terrain, temperature, or load. It also gets a new ‘Smart EcoTM Mode’ that allows riders to enjoy cruising in ‘Ride’ mode whilst offering the range of ‘Eco’ mode.

The 450x Gen 3 offers five ride modes including Warp, Sport, Ride, SmartEco, and Eco. The maximum power output in Warp mode is 6.2 kW or 8.7 hp. The 450x continues to be based on an aluminum frame. Ather has also made the tire size wider to offer better grip and shorter braking distance. The newer tire compound and improved tread profile have increased the grip by 22%. The 450x Gen 3 gets an upgraded dashboard with a re-architected Ather stack and an upgraded 2 GB RAM for better processing power and ease of use.

Based on customer feedback, the 450x Gen 3 has new rear mirrors which are 2x better in terms of visibility and 5x in reliability. It also gets a side-step for added convenience of the pillion. Both of these parts are made of single-cast aluminum and are integrated seamlessly with the scooter’s design. Other than this, the 450x Gen 3 remains the same as the previous iteration. It still offers a boot space of 22 liters, a 7-inch touchscreen with various functions such as navigation, front and rear disc brakes with regen, 12-inch alloy wheels, a telescopic fork, and a belt drive system.

The design is also unchanged and it continues to offer front and rear LED lights. It is also offered with TPMS as an official accessory. Priced at ₹5000, this TPMS is integrated inside the tires and it replaces the traditional valve stem. The TPMS data will be displayed on the scooter’s dashboard as well as the Ather app on the user’s phone.
