Aston Martin says that the new DBR22 is a “perfect celebration” of the Q division and its potential. Being a Q division car, it has a unique and different design when compared to the current Aston Martin lineup. The DBR22 gets its retro style from the 1959 LeMans-winning Aston Martin DBR1 and the earlier DB3S. The interior of this supercar is equipped with not one but two digital displays with a pair of carbon fiber, race-style bucket seats, and a liberal deployment of exposed carbon fiber throughout. The DBR22 is styled by aerodynamics-boosting twin nacelles and a wraparound tail-light bar on the rear deck, while the front gets a new grille with carbon fiber vanes. Other design elements include bespoke 14-spoke and 22-inch center-locking alloy wheels. With these details, the DBR22 looks related to  V12 Speedster, which was first announced in 2020.

DBR22 shares the same engine as the V12 Speedster which is an Aston Martin 5.2-litre, twin-turbocharged V12 delivering 705 hp and 752 nm of torque. While the power is sent to the rear wheels through calibrated 8-speed automatic gearbox. The DBR22 can run from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 317 kph. The company says that it is not a typical racer but it is built to provide the pleasure of driving on the road as well as on track.

Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer, commented, “Technology is pivotal in the construction of DBR22, with extensive use of carbon fiber throughout, and the use of 3D printing for the manufacture of a structural component. As such DBR22 showcases Aston Martin’s unique capabilities, with the world-class design combined with an agile, intelligent approach to engineering and production. For a car that was designed to celebrate the ultimate bespoke customization service, the engineering developments mean DBR22 truly has the dynamic theatre to match, ensuring the drive is just as addictive as its looks.”

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, added: “We set our design systems to “hyper-drive”, pushing the exploration of formalism further and endeavoring to express a future in here today. Where could we go with the surfaces, proportion, and form. Combining this approach with advanced processes, technology, and materials, we’ve effectively modernized our racing bloodline and created a new pedigree. DBR22 is a hot-blooded, purebred Aston Martin sports car full of speed, agility, and spirit, and a machine that we think will be the basis of many of tomorrow’s icons”.
