Honda SP160: Styling and Features

The styling of the new SP160 is much different than its other 160cc siblings. There are a lot of design elements which are similar to the SP125. But the proportions are scaled-up in the new SP160 resulting in a unique identity of the motorcycle.

For starters, the design of the LED headlight is like the SP125. But, the M-shaped taillight looks distinctive and adds a sporty flair to the bike. While the overall design of Unicorn is restricted, the new SP160 looks sporty and youthful in the design. Meanwhile, the SP160 also gets an enlarged fuel tank, a black treatment to reduce the visual bulk and sharp lines in various panels of the motorcycle.

In terms of features, Honda has loaded the new SP160 with a lot of features. The new SP160 is modern and upmarket, thanks to the new LCD digital instrument cluster. The LCD digital cluster provides various vehicle information such as speedometer, rev counter, gear position, mileage, etc. But Bluetooth connectivity is not available.

Honda SP160: Engine and Transmission

In terms of the powertrain, the new Honda SP160 uses the familiar 162cc 4-stroke engine. This engine is also available in the X-Blade and Unicorn and gets the new PGM-Fi technology. Moreover, this engine produces 13.67 bhp of power and 14.7nm of torque output. However, it will get a 5-Speed Manual Transmission.

Honda has tuned this engine in X-Blade for higher power and torque. While the figures of the SP160 aren’t in the league of Bajaj Pulsar N160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. However, it upkeeps with the likes of Pulsar P150, Yamaha FZ and Suzuki Gixxer.

Honda SP160: Platform and Suspension

The all-new Honda SP160 is based on the diamond-type frame platform. This platform is also used in the Honda Unicorn. Meanwhile, the suspension set-up comprises telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.

However, what makes the SP160 different from Unicorn is the wheel sizes. The SP160 rides on 17-inch wheels while the Unicorn gets bigger 18-inch wheels. Meanwhile, The SP160 gets a tyre size of 80/100-17 at the front and 130/70-17 at the rear.
